Artist Statement

I grew up in the town of Idyllwild, in the San Jacinto Mountains of Southern California.  In 2005 while teaching philosophy at the University of Stellenbosch, I started to study painting in Cape Town, South Africa, with instructors affiliated with the Michaelis School of Fine Arts: Lynne Lomofsky, Paul Birchall, and Jill Trappler. My work began as German expressionist, infuenced by the paintings of Franz Marc that I remembered looking at when I was a child.  Over time I experimented with other styles of art (abstract expressionism, constructivism) and tried combinations of media such as collage, film, sculpture, but in the end have returned to my passion for post-impressionist painting. 

I live with my husband and son in Idyllwild and am an enthusiastic hockey goal tender.

2013--April, group show, the Corridor, Palm Springs, Artists in Recovery, benefit show for the House of Hope, a women's recovery house in Desert Hot Springs.

2013--July through August, solo show at Aroma Cafe and Gallery, Idyllwild.

2013--Work placed on permanent display at Aroma Cafe and Gallery, Idyllwild.

2013--October 19th, Donation of signed print of diptych from "The Coming Out of David Karofsky" series to Max Adler's sponsored charity City Hearts for auction to raise funds for bringing the arts to inner city kids, Los Angeles, California.

2014--Field Projects Gallery in New York City posts film "The Holy Longing" on their Facebook and Tumblr pages.
